My name is Weymouth's Scottish Brodie or Brodie for short. I am a 7 year old black Labrador Retriever. I compete in the sport of dog agility, as does my brother Weymouth's English Tucker. My other brother, Black Sands Irish Logan is still a pup, but has started training in agility. My blog lets's me share our agility experiences. I hope you enjoy it.

Well Tucker and I went to our second agility trial of 2010.  Mom said she was please with our runs even though neither of us earned a Q. She took the blame saying she was trying some new handling tehcniques with each of us.

She was thrilled that we both nailed all our weaves for the day. Tucker's jumping has improved and his time for jumpers was great. As for my jumpers run, the ring was running early and Mom didn't get to walk it for very long, so for the first time she can remember she got a bit lost on course. We made it through without an wrong course but I took down one bar and we were over time.

As for my standard run, I was the comic relief for the day. I decided to go look at the chute rather then take the second jump. When Mom tried to get me back on course, I tried going through the wing stantion, knocking over the whole jump. The rest of the run was fine.

All in all we had fun. Muybe we will Q next time.

Tucker and I had our first agility show of 2010. We were only trialing for the one day and Mom was looking at it as a warm-up trial. I had some good runs, but did not Q.

Tucker's last run of the day at 5:30 was Jumpers with Weaves. Even with a few bobbles at the weaves poles he Q'd, which finally earned him is Jumpers with Weaves Preferred title. We are all so excited that he can finally move up to Open.

Congratulations Tucker!!!!

We had a big snow storm yesterday, getting over a foot of snow. Mom took us out to play in it today. Tucker and Logan raced around and bounded through the snow drifts while I ambled along. Mom took bunches of pictures, even one of me using the A-frame as a shortcut to get away from Tucker and Logan.
We had loads of fun and when it was over we went in and all took a nap.

The Boys - Brodie, Tucker & Logan
Mom and Dad took me, Tucker and Logan to Staten Island today to have our picture taken. Tucker and I sat nicely for Nicole but you should have seen Logan. He'd sit for a second and then be up. Finally, they got him to stay in one place long enough to get a few shots.

Then the fun began, taking a pictures of all three of us together. You should have seen Mom and Nicole trying to get the three of us either all together sitting or lying down. When Tucker and Logan were next to one another they wanted to roll around and play. When they asked me to lie down, I would roll over to get my belly rubbed. It was like a 3 ring circus. Mom, Dad and Nicole persisted and finally got a few good shots.

Lastly, we had our picture taken with Mom. At least then she could hold on to Logan to keep him from getting up. Nicole even got a great shot of Mom with Logan. After about 2 hours it was over and there were enough good photos to satisfy Mom and Dad.

Let's see if they will ever try this again.

Well, Mom blew it for Tucker on Saturday. He was clean on his JWW run right up until the last jump when Mom slowed down and said Yes...of course Tucker slowed down and looked at Mom and knocked the last bar. That run would have given Tucker his NJP title. He had another chance on Sunday, but knocked a bar mid-run. His runs were good, he usually takes out more bars. Maybe next run he'll title.

As for me, I had a nice Standard run on Saturday but I too knocked a bar. On Sunday I had a clean JWW run, but was over time by 7 seconds and I had one refusal on my Standard run. The good news is that Mom was so pleased with my weave pole performance. I had no problem with the weave poles on any of my 4 runs. I guess all that weave pole practice this week paid off. Mom had me running through weave poles every day that it did not rain. I didn't mind since my reward for a successful weaves was string cheese...my favorite.

This weekend was a big improvement over my last trial. We are still getting used to running in Excellent. No Qs is disappointing, but we are improving.
